A & C Callipari

The Callipari family has been farming a 25 acre property in Kemps Creek in South West Sydney since 1978.  Throughout the 80's and 90's they excelled in the production of tomatoes, beans and zucchini; but how times have changed in farming. Initially they used tomato stakes, grew in the open air and soil planted crops, then, due to customer demands, glasshouse farming was introduced.  This expanded the variety of vegetables farmed, including Lebanese cucumbers, hydroponic tomatoes, eggplants and other seasonal vegies.

They initially built twelve glass houses, then in 1999 they added another four, with six more to follow in 2003. The family is still working the farm, but they are not sure what the future holds for them, as housing developments are getting closer and closer.

Tony was one of the initial stallholders at the start of the market.  He was very happy to put his money up to keep the market going when the NSW Farmers Association withdrew their management of the market.

Tony loves the atmosphere at the market and finds the customers very friendly and genuinely interested in what is happening at the farm.
